Amritsar March 11, 2024 Razed Akal Takht Sahib Model placed in the centre, portraits of Sikh martyrs in the surrounding. More than six years after the project started to be executed, Shaheedi Gallery dedicated to the Sikh heroes who attained martyrdom while fighting the security forces of India in June 1984 to defend Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and Akal Takht Sahib here, is opening on Saturday in Darbar Sahib complex (Mar 9).
While the razed Akal Takht Sahib model is placed in the centre of the gallery, portraits are put in the galleries. Portraits of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Bhai Amrik Singh, General Shabeg Singh are highlighted in the gallery built in the basement of Shaheedi Yadgar, a gurdwara established in memory of the 1984 martyrs. Both the projects have been executed by Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal.
Akal Takht Sahib jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh will inaugurate much awaited gallery in presence of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami and other Sikh religious and political personalities will will inaugurate this much awaited gallery in presence of SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami.
A brief religious function will be organized to inaugurate the gallery.
During the headship of Kirpal Singh Badungar, the executive of the SGPC passed a resolution to establish the gallery to display the portraits of Sant Bhindranwale, his aides and other devotees who were killed during the India army attack on the holiest Sikh shrine and highest Sikh temporal seat.
