AMRITSAR Pro-freedom Sikh activists on Wednesday gathered at Akal Takht Sahib to express solidarity with struggling Sikh leader Narain Singh Chaura who attempted to punish Sukhbir Badal for his sins against the community and its supreme institutions.
Upset over the sins committed by Sukhbir Badal, who did not only damaged the Sikhs across the world and their top religio-political institutions, but also played role in 2015 sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, Chaura resorted to shoot Badal outside Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) on December 4, while the latter was acting as ‘sewadar’ there to undergo tankhah (religious punishment) awarded by Akal Takht Sahib for his sins.
On directions of Badal, the SGPC executive committee recently passed a resolution urging Akal Takht Sahib to excommunicate Narain Singh Chaura.
Enraged over this resolution, the struggling Sikhs held gathering at the highest Sikh temporal seat, before taking out march from Gurdwara Saragarhi Sahib to Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple).
Besides Dal Khalsa leaders including its working president Paramjit Singh Mand, former Akal Takht jathedar Jasbir Singh Rode, SAD (Amritsar) leader Imaan Singh Mann, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC)’s functionary Manjit Singh Bhoma, Mohkam Singh, Sher-e-Punjab Akali Dal president Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur and Jagtar Singh Hawara’s father Gurcharan Singh made presence on the occasion along with their supporters.
During the march, the Sikh activists were seen carrying placards in their hands in support of Narain Singh Chaura, demanding the resolution be scrapped as it was passed against the sentiments of the community. They handed over a memorandum to Akal Takht jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh requesting him to reject the demand of the gurdwara body.
Referring to his meeting with Chaura in the court complex held during his production, Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh said, “I have been told by Chaura that he considered penance granted by Akal Takht as incomplete justice. So, he resorted to shoot him and took law in his hands”.
The activists also did ardas at Akal Takht to mark the third anniversary of sacrilege bid made by an unknown person at the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Darbar Sahib. “The Police are clueless about this deep rooted conspiracy even after three years, which was hatched by deep state of India”, said the activists.
