Akal Takht asks Sikhs to mark 40th anniversary of June ’84 holocaust in all gurdwaras

AMRITSAR April 10, 2024 Akal Takht Sahib on Tuesday issued a decree asking the community to observe the upcoming 40th anniversary of army attack on the Sikh highest temporal seat and holiest Sikh shrine, Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and organize functions in all gurdwaras.
“By organizing functions, the young generation should be aware of atrocities committed by the Indian government against the Sikhs”, reads the decree.
The decree was issued during a meeting of Panj Singh Sahiban. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh chaired the meeting. Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh, Takht Patna Sahib additional head granthi Giani Gurdial Singh and Sri Harmandar Sahib granthi Giani Gurminder Singh were also present in the meeting.
Many other decisions were also taken during the meeting. Arrest of the Dibrugarh NSA Sikh detainee Amritpal Singh’s family members and imposing ban on taking out religious procession by the Sikhs were also condemned by the Panj Singh Sahiban.
